I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt

of your letter No. 1820/09 of the 15th. of April, enclosing a

minute from the Principal Civil Medical Officer, raising

queries on our accounts for January to February last.

In reply, I have to inform you that the

payments referred to were made on the authority of the Secretary

of State and copies of the letters authorising them were, £3

far as we can trace, attached to the payment vouchers.

In case,

however, the letters were not

attached, I enclose further copies for your information.
